Matt Ballin had an unfortunate debut for the Wests Tigers.

Wests Tigers recruit Matt Ballin will miss the remainder of the season the club confirmed on Monday morning.

Ballin, who signed for Wests Tigers at the start of 2016, made his club debut in Round 11 against the Newcastle Knights after missing the opening 10 rounds of the year with his recovery from an off-season knee reconstruction.

After playing in the Round 11 win over the Broncos, scans on Ballin's knee showed that the hooker would need another surgery before taking the field again — sidelining him for the rest of the year.

Wests Tigers officials are extremely confident of having him in the team for the opening game of 2017.
