Souths forward Paul Carter has reverted to an interchange utility role.

Rabbitohs forward Paul Carter will miss Friday night's clash with the Penrith Panthers after taking the early guilty plea to a grade one dangerous contact charge arising from the game against Parramatta in round 14.

Carter was charged from an incident in the 47th minute involving Eels half Corey Norman and will miss the one game and accrue 29 carry over points from the charge.

Parramatta centre Vai Toutai was also charged by the NRL match review committee for a grade 1 careless high tackle on John Sutton, but will not miss any matches.
