Roosters winger Joe Burgess.

The South Sydney Rabbitohs have announced the signing of English international winger Joe Burgess for the remainder of the 2016 season.

Burgess, 21, has joined the Rabbitohs squad from the Sydney Roosters where he played four NRL games this season. Burgess has also played three Tests for England in 2015 and played 55 games for the Wigan Warriors in the Super League competition, the club he will rejoin in 2017.

Rabbitohs head coach Michael Maguire said Burgess will boost the Rabbitohs' depth in the outside backs for the rest of the year.

"Joe is a quality winger and he sees an opportunity to play more first grade football for the rest of the year with our club," coach Maguire said.

"He has played international football and is an excellent finisher, and we look forward to seeing him turn out in the red and green for the rest of this year."
