Sea Eagles coach Trent Barrett says club captain Jamie Lyon is unlikely to play next week against the Raiders in what would be his last ever match at Brookvale Oval.

Lyon was a late scratching for Manly's 38-18 loss at home against the Melbourne Storm on Saturday night with Barrett revealing the 34-year-old had picked up a hamstring injury in the captain's run on Friday.

Next week's game against the Green Machine would have been his 225th match for the Sea Eagles and his last at 'Fortress Brookie'.

Earlier this year, Lyon announced he would retire at the end of 2016 despite having another season to run on his contract.

Should he fail to recover in time, Lyon will fall agonisingly short of 300 NRL matches in a career that started at the Parramatta Eels in 2000.

"Unlikely mate, which is a massive shame for us," Barrett said when asked about Lyon's availability next week.

"He's got a hamstring problem and whilst he'll do everything to get there, it's not looking great at this stage, and he's devastated.

"He hurt it yesterday at the captain's run, so that's something we'll have to manage and cross our fingers and toes that he can [recover] because he's been a wonderful, wonderful player for the club and we want to send him out on the right note."

Barrett couldn't confirm if the injury would force Lyon to miss the side's Round 26 clash against the Panthers at Pepper Stadium as well.

"We'll do everything we can to get him on the field but we don't know at this stage."
