Player poll: Moments to remember from 2016
As we head into the final round of the regular season we asked some of the game's best players which moments they will remember fondly from season 2016.
Ryan James (Titans)
I'd probably have to say the one-point win over Souths over in Perth. That was a pretty defining moment. We had a couple of young players who stood up and everyone played well.
Kerrod Holland (Bulldogs)
Making my NRL debut would have to be number one. It was a special game and to be able to do it with such a great club like the Bulldogs made it even better. To be able to have such a great debut is something that I'll never forget. Kicking the goal at the end just topped it off. I didn't know that I'd be kicking so it came as a surprise to me and everyone else. Luckily for me it went over and we got the win.
Julian O'Neill (Cowboys)
The World Club Challenge was an awesome experience and was a bit of icing on the cake from what we had done last year and to start the season off. I'd been to England a couple of times, with the Storm in 2013 after the 2012 Grand Final and our school does a rugby/netball tour over there so I've been over there a bit. It's awesome, I love it over there.
Jacob Lillyman (Warriors)
The Brisbane game (a 36-18 victory over the Broncos in Round 13). That was when I felt things started to change for the positive in our season. After the disappointing start and all the adversity we faced, to turn that around and have that period there where we played some really tough and grinding footy, that period was a good time. It's just a shame it didn't last a bit longer.
Jake Granville (Cowboys)
I'd probably go with the home game against the Broncos here (Round 11), it was a pretty good performance. We always get a big home crowd here in that game so it's always a good one to win.
Jarrod Wallace (Broncos)
Scoring against the Roosters was a highlight. I got off the nudie run! That was a huge positive because I was a bit nervous that I wasn't going to get a try. It went up to the Bunker and I thought they were going to take it off me. But in all honesty, it's been a fantastic year. We've had some big milestones and a huge number of debutants. The boys had an outstanding Origin series and it's just been a great year.
Tyrone Roberts (Titans)
I've got two; beating the old team (Newcastle) twice in one season.
Antonio Winterstein (Cowboys)
Probably our win against the Broncos up here (Round 11). It was a tough game and went down to the wire as it always does. I've got some really good mates in that team and it's obviously good to get one up on them. Every time we play the Broncos it's a tough battle and the respect that we have for each other is why the games are as high-quality as they are.
Brett Morris (Bulldogs)
Can't go past my return from injury. It was an important game for the club against a strong team like the Broncos. We had a few guys backing up from Origin so to get the win meant a lot to the group. The fact I got a hat-trick was a bonus.
Albert Vete (Warriors)
That win we had over on the Gold Coast (in Round 22) when all that stuff was going down with Jarryd Hayne signing. That was a pretty fun game to play in. The crowd was unreal and it felt like a finals game. That was the highlight so far.
Ashley Taylor (Titans)
Mine's a pretty easy one, kicking the field goal against the Rabbitohs. It was a relief to get that first one over and done with but I haven't done one since. Be nice to do it again this weekend.
Scott Bolton (Cowboys)
The World Club Challenge. Going over to England and playing there was a pretty great memory. It was the first time I'd been over there and I really enjoyed it. We had a fair bit of free time to go and explore around London the first two days and I was pretty fortunate that my fiancee came over so I got to spend some time with her as well. Michelle had been over there a couple of times so she took me around and showed me a few things.
