Anthony Cherrington playing for the Roosters in 2008.

The South Sydney Rabbitohs have signed Anthony Cherrington for the 2017 season.

Cherrington, 28, has played 19 NRL matches since making his debut in round 10 of 2008 for the Sydney Roosters. A Junior Kiwis representative in 2007, Cherrington was selected in his debut year for the New Zealand train-on squad for the 2008 Rugby League World Cup.

Cherrington has played for the Redcliffe Dolphins since 2014 in the Intrust Super Cup competition. In 2015 he was named the Redcliffe Dolphins First Grade Player of the Year.

Rabbitohs coach Michael Maguire believes Cherrington will be a great inclusion to his squad.

"Anthony has a lot to offer the Rabbitohs," said Maguire.

"He is a versatile forward who can play both in the middle and on the edge. He comes to us with experience in Rugby League and a good attitude to want to establish himself at the Rabbitohs. He will add to that depth and competition in our squad which will be a positive thing for our club."

"Anthony will be a great inclusion to what we're building here at South Sydney."
