St George Illawarra forward Dunamis Lui in action for the Dragons in 2016.

The St George Illawarra Dragons have granted Dunamis Lui a formal release from his current playing contract.

The Toa Samoa international has been granted a release to take-up an opportunity with another NRL club.

Lui made his first-grade debut for the club in the opening round of last season against the Melbourne Storm and made 10 NRL appearances in total.

"Dunamis has received an opportunity elsewhere that he would like to pursue and we thank him for his services and contributions to our club," Director of Rugby League Pathways Ian Millward.

"Everyone at the Dragons wishes Dunamis all the best."
