Eels prop Danny Wicks against the Rabbitohs in Round 10.

Parramatta Eels prop Danny Wicks has announced his retirement from the NRL, effective immediately.

The 33-year-old former Dragons and Knights player joined the Eels in 2015 and passed the 100 NRL game milestone in Round 18.

"Danny has been a key part of our group in the last two seasons both on and off the field and it will be disappointing to not have him as part of our team in 2017," Eels coach Brad Arthur said.

Wicks thanked the club and teammates at the Eels for the past couple of seasons.

"I have really enjoyed my time at the Eels and I am thankful to Brad and the club for giving me the opportunity to play for the last two seasons," Wicks said.
