The race for the Dragons No.7 jersey is well and truly on, with both Shaun Nona (HLF, $138,000) and Jai Field (HLF, $138,000) named in the Red V's Auckland Nines squad. Read more

Is Josh Addo-Carr (WFB, $305,000) ready to become the next Marika Koroibete? The similarities between the pair are uncanny. Addo-Carr could be in for a big first year in the Victorian capital, but at just over $300,000 he won't come cheap. Read more

 


Will rookie Gehamat Shibasaki (CTR, $138,000) force his way into the Broncos' backline at some point in 2017? Read more

A broken hand has ruled Matthew Wright (WFB/CTR, $185,000) out of the Auckland Nines, but the Sea Eagles backline utility will be available for Round 1. Read more

Korbin Sims (FRF, $349,000) has re-joined the Broncos, and is in line to fill their front-row void for Round 1. But according to his new teammates, the former Knight isn't guaranteed a spot in the 17 against the Sharks. Read more.

Will Ryan Hoffman's (2RF, $321,000) minutes take a hit in 2017? New Warriors coach Stephen Kearney is considering other options as captain, which could indicate that Hoffman might spend some time on the bench as Kearney ushers in the next wave of young back-rowers at the club. Read more

 


While on the topic of forward rotations, the Cowboys look set to shake things up in 2017 in an effort to hand youngster Coen Hess (2RF, $267,000) greater game time. With James Tamou and Ben Hannant having departed, Gavin Cooper or Ethan Lowe could be moved to the middle at times to accommodate the Mt Isa product. Read more

Peter Mata'utia (WFB/CTR, $220,000) and Dylan Phythian (WFB, $143,000) are in a two-horse race for the Newcastle No.1 jersey for Round 1, but the more experienced Mata'utia might just have the edge over his teammate. Read more
