Broncos utility back Jordan Kahu couldn't hide his disappointment post-match after making an error on a last-gasp conversion which would have sent his side through to the semi-finals of the Downer NRL Auckland Nines.

After Sam Lavea battled over for a try next to the posts, Brisbane trailed the Roosters by a point and Kahu had the opportunity to seal the win, only to hit his successful conversion after the buzzer, making it null and void.

"I'm pretty devastated at the moment about it all," Kahu said following the narrow loss.

"Obviously the last moment kills the buzz for me. I'm pretty disappointed.

"You're used to a couple of minutes when you kick and the 30 seconds starts as soon as you score. It's pretty short.

"I just thought I got it away in time but obviously not."

Post-match Roosters Nines captain Mitchell Aubusson had some sympathy for Kahu.

"We spoke about that ourselves and discussed making sure that you don't miss the chance to get your conversion away," Aubusson said.

"It's unfortunate for Jordan because it's cost them the game."
