Warriors winger Manu Vatuvei has been named for his side's Round 3 Telstra Premiership clash with the Canterbury Bulldogs in Dunedin on Friday night.

Vatuvei will make his first NRL appearance of the season after playing in the Intrust Super Premiership for the first two rounds of the year.

The 225 game veteran takes the place of Tuimoala Lolohea who has been named in the reserves as part of the Warriors' initial 21-man squad.

"Manu has played really well in his two games in the ISP after missing the trials and he'll provide us with the valuable experience we need," Warriors coach Stephen Kearney told warriors.kiwi.

Kearney has significantly boosted the experience in his starting line-up for the trip to Forsyth Barr Stadium, Dunedin, in what will be the first NRL match to be played in the southern New Zealand city.

As well as Vatuvei, front rower Jacob Lillyman has been brought into the run-on side as has seasoned second rower Bodene Thompson. Both players were used from the bench in the opening two rounds against Newcastle and Melbourne.
