Broncos centre James Roberts against the Roosters in Round 26.

Josh Addo'Carr's ultimately unsuccessful chase of James Roberts on Thursday night once again raised the question: just who is the fastest player in the game? In order to try and find some sort of consensus we asked those who should know, the players who have to try and keep up with them.

Adam Reynolds (Rabbitohs)

Alex Johnston is probably the quickest in our team. I think he's been clocked at over 10 metres per second. At his best he'd probably be one of the quickest in the comp. I played 20s with James Roberts and he scored a couple of 100-metre tries. Whenever he was in the clear you'd just give him the ball and you'd know he'd score.

Jai Arrow (Broncos)

James Roberts is definitely the fastest player at the Broncos and I'd have to say he's the fastest in the NRL as well. He's something else. When you watch him run you are just in awe. He's lightning quick and his blistering speed can't be matched. He works on it a bit to try and get quicker but he's just naturally fast.

David Fusitu'a (Warriors)

It would be Tui Lolohea at the club; Shaun Johnson or Ken Maumalo would be close too. Across the comp my guess would be Josh Addo-Carr at the Storm.

Tyrone Roberts (Titans)

If you're saying over 40 metres probably one of the front-rowers because of all that power. If it's a dead race over 100 I'd probably have to say my cousin James and over 40 Kevin Naiqama. At the Titans Anthony Don is probably the quickest, but I'd probably get him over 40.

Hymel Hunt (Rabbitohs)

At our club over 20 metres I'd have to say Damien Cook but over 100 it's definitely Alex Johnston. I reckon James Roberts would have a really good race with 'AJ' (Johnston) if you put them against each other. He's got wheels.

Charlie Gubb (Warriors)

At the club I'd say Nathaniel Roache. I thought Josh Addo-Carr was pretty fast last weekend when we played the Storm.

Kane Elgey (Titans)

I'd have to say either Michael Jennings or Jimmy the Jet (James Roberts). Surprisingly Koni (Konrad Hurrell) is one of the fastest at the club over 20 metres but over a longer distance 'Boogs' (Anthony Don) is surprisingly fast. He's up there for sure.
