Former Rabbitohs captain John Sutton has extended his stay at South Sydney for a 15th season, re-signing for 2018.
The local junior has played 282 NRL games to date, and the one-year deal means he has the chance to become the club's first 300-game player.
New Souths coach Anthony Seibold said Sutton's experience and leadership qualities will be invaluable to the young Rabbitohs outfit.
"John is a leader amongst our group, he’s played more games than anyone in our jersey which shows his loyalty to the club, and those attributes are priceless to our squad," Seibold said.
"The experience he brings is instrumental to players like Cameron Murray, Zane Musgrove, Angus Crichton, Tyrell Fuimaono, Campbell Graham, Braidon Burns and Siosifa Talakai, amongst others."
Elated to be continuing his time at Redfern, Sutton said moving to another club was never really an option.
"I love this club and everything it stands for and I’ve never wanted to play for anyone else," Sutton said.
"To have the opportunity to have another year with Souths is fantastic and I want to thank everyone at the club for having faith in me to get the job done next season."
Sutton captained the Rabbitohs during the 2014 premiership season, leading South Sydney to their long-awaited 21st premiership.
