Blake Green could soon be in sky blue.

The Warriors five-eighth’s career-best form in the opening month of 2018 has put him in the frame for selection for New South Wales – at the age of 31.

Jamie Soward wore the Blues number six jersey in 2011 and this week told the NRL Podcast Green wouldn’t look out of place in the Origin arena.

“I could potentially see (coach) Brad Fittler going with maybe (James) Maloney and Blake Green,” Soward said.

“New South Wales have struggled to get repeat sets (in the past) and those two guys are both very good at (getting) repeat sets and being able to put their teams in positions to win.”

Soward also weighed into whether fellow hopeful Jack De Belin should be selected for the Origin opener on June 6 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Discussion surrounding de Belin’s comments saying he is “made for” Origin resulted in a heated debate as Soward went toe-to-toe with host Zac Bailey about why journalists ask players whether they believe they warrant selection.

The 2010 Telstra Premiership winner also discussed how external and personal expectations affect players and analyses every teams’ start to the 2018 season.
