The 2018 Telstra Premiership has already proved to be quite the season for NRL players who are unused to seeing their names on the scoreboards with four of the seven longest current try-scoring droughts already broken.
This weekend just gone saw Dragon Lesson Ah Mau (83 games) and Knights Chris Heighington (67 games) each bag their first try in years.
In round one, Warrior Sam Lisone (63 games) bagged the first meat pie of his NRL career in his fourth season in the top grade.
Then in round two, Cowboys recruit Jordan McLean (61 games) – sadly now sitting out with a long-term foot injury – nabbed his first four-pointer since 2014.
The two longest droughts heading into 2018 are still alive however; Manly prop Darcy Lussick (98 games) could be headed overseas this season to alleviate the club's salary cap crisis which would have the potential to rob him of a chance to break that duck (or to bring up his ton).
Eels prop Suaia Matagi (86 games) has been spending a bit of time in reserve grade but has not crossed the stripe since his 2011 season at the Warriors – five years and three clubs ago.
The Burgess twins, Tom and George, both make it into the current top five. George was prolific early in his career, with 10 tries across 2013-14 but hasn't scored since his solitary 2015 four-pointer in round two that year. Tom has just three career tries, all tallied in 2014-15.
