The triumphant NSW women's team in 2017.

Tickets are on sale for the 2018 Holden Women's State of Origin match, to be played at North Sydney Oval as part of the June representative round weekend.

The match will be played on Friday 22 June and will mark the first occasion that the match will take place under the State of Origin brand (previously named the Interstate Challenge).

NRL Chief Executive Todd Greenberg said the match would be another highlight for women's rugby league, as part of a full year of competition.

"There's nothing quite like State of Origin rivalry and what an occasion this will be, as our Queensland and New South Wales women's teams battle it out on the iconic North Sydney Oval, to kick off our representative weekend," Mr Greenberg said.

"Anyone who has witnessed past matches between these two States knows the incredible skills and sheer determination to win that both teams display.

"There will be plenty of superstars on show amongst the teams and I encourage as many fans to head to North Sydney Oval on 22 June to witness the first of two State of Origin matches over the course of the weekend."

Queensland player Karina Brown said the build-up to this year's Origin would be significant.

"This is a game and an experience that I look forward to every year," Brown said.

"I'll be doing everything I can to make sure I'm part of an historic State of Origin match and I know the Queensland team will be working hard to claim back the interstate honours in this new phase of our rivalry.

"This is another huge moment for women's rugby league and both teams will be ready to showcase our great game on the big stage."

New South Wales player Simaima Taufa said the rivalry between the teams was like nothing else throughout the women's rugby league season.

"A lot of us are Jillaroos team mates and good friends, but when it comes to this match, that all gets put aside," Taufa said.

"New South Wales has won the past two years and we're not about to give up the title now.

"It would be awesome to see a big crowd at North Sydney Oval as we look to make it three wins in a row."

NSW Minister for Tourism and Major Events, Adam Marshall said Sydney is set for a blockbuster weekend of Origin action.

"The NSW Government is pleased to be supporting the Holden Women's State of Origin in Sydney, the home of rugby league in Australia," Mr Marshall said.

"I encourage fans to come to Sydney for the historic stand-alone Origin Two on Sunday 24 June and to extend their stay and make a long weekend of it, as with the women's match on Friday night and the 2018 Pacific Test on Saturday, the Harbour City is the place to be for rugby league excitement."
