Sharks star Andrew Fifita.

Sharks prop Andrew Fifita has hit back at a racist slur on social media following his man-of-the-match performance for Cronulla against the Raiders on Sunday.

Fifita, who played the full 80 minutes in the front row for the injury-hit Sharks, responded to a tweet during the game that read: "Hahahaha get that into ya, you black c---".

"On the weekend I was passed this tweet to me after the game and they said it was when I dropped the ball over the line," Fifita wrote on Instagram.

"I have 1 message to all fans and people who just love to watch footy. Say No to racism, it's a harsh world we live in but thought I would name and shame this person. Online Social bulling is 1 of the biggest killers in the world. #plzstopthis#hatersgonnahate"

Fifita, 28, has played seven Tests for Australia and three games for the Indigenous All Stars.

Fifita's Instagram post received hundreds of positive replies supporting the prop's stance, including from teammate Luke Lewis's wife Sonia and long-time Sharks fan, actor Brendan Cowell.

Earlier this year South Sydney Rabbitohs star Greg Inglis spoke out after being the target of racial abuse during a game in round two.

Inglis on racism: We need to stamp it out
