Seibold admits Rabbitohs were outplayed

Rabbitohs coach Anthony Seibold says the club's first loss since going down to the Broncos in round eight was a result of certain individuals missing their roles and expressed disappointment club veteran John Sutton's 300th game didn't get the performance it deserved.

Seibold wasn't going to throw anyone specific under the bus in his post-match press conference and conceded the Tigers were better in every department in their 22-6 win at ANZ Stadium on Saturday night.

"I'm not a massive believer in having to lose a game to learn but Wests Tigers were far better than us tonight and beat us in most areas of the game," Seibold said.

"To be fair we were outplayed; we need to make sure we review it, take away some of the key learnings and dive into next week's opposition (Parramatta)."

Although Souths finished with the majority of possession after getting plenty of second half ball, they hardly touched it early, which Seibold said played a role.

"A couple of individuals missed their roles at different times, we've been really good with knowing our role and doing our job but I thought we were a little bit off," he said.

"We missed too many tackles in the first half. The other one as we didn't have much possession in the first half, at one stage it was 63 to 37 or something like that and the possession we did have, I think we only had two or three good ball sets, went over the sideline a couple of times, Sammy [Burgess] dropped it over the line, we just didn't build any pressure."

Burgess was disappointed to end up for report for a high shot on former Rabbitoh Robbie Farah but insisted there were no hard feeling between the pair, who congratulated each other and shared a word after the final siren and were seen sharing a friendly chat in the sheds afterwards.

"It's a great occasion for both men, John, really disappointed we couldn't be better for him tonight but it doesn't take away from what he achieved at the club," Burgess said.

"Robbie, 250 at Wests Tigers, he celebrated 250th NRL game with us last season but 250 at the Tigers is a great achievement and he's a great player. Both great occasions for two men, one for the result and one didn't."

Burgess added he couldn't say much about the tackle that may earn him another suspension.

"I can't really comment on that at the minute, it's on report," he said.

And of his expletive-laden tirade towards Farah, who he called "weak" for staying down after the hit, he added: "There's plenty said on the field, I can't remember what I said. I can't really comment on it, it's in the match review committee's hand now so we'll just move on."
