Jamie Soward hated being labelled a 'choker'.

The former Dragons five-eighth had to deal with relentless criticism until he won a premiership with the club in 2010. Soward knows what the current crop of players are going through after losing five of their past six matches and he tells the NRL Podcast players must change their approach or they'll head for an early exit.

"They look like they've got a mentality of 'we can switch it on in the finals, we just need to get there'," Soward says.

"You start to compromise all the good work you've done because you slip up against teams you should be beating...and then all of a sudden, you find yourself sitting there watching the last couple of weeks of the competition. They need to get back on track very, very quickly."

Soward also gave his thoughts on the NRL's coaching merry-go-round and discusses '#BBQgate' which has embroiled the Brisbane Broncos.
