Storm and Roosters reveal NRL grand final playlists

The Sydney Roosters and Melbourne Storm have revealed their grand final playlists ahead of Sunday's Telstra Premiership Grand Final, with fans able to listen to their team's tunes via Spotify.

Australian rockers Gang of Youths will provide the pre-game entertainment at ANZ Stadium on Sunday and features on both playlists.

The Roosters's playlist includes a bit of 1990s hip hop in the form of MC Hammer and House of Pain while the Storm's list includes old-school rock AC/DC, Jet, Coldplay and State of Origin entertainment act Peking Duk.

Fans can listen to the playlists below or on Spotify.

Latrell Mitchell from Sydney Roosters says, "This playlist is guaranteed to get the team pumped up and ready for a big game," star Roosters centre Latrell Mitchell said.

The NRL grand final has featured a string of big-name artists in recent years, including Keith Urban, Cold Chisel, and Macklemore.

"Listening to music before a big game can lead to a number of psychological and psychophysiological benefits, such as increased happiness, mood and work output," said Dr Amanda Krause, Research Fellow at The University of Melbourne specialising in the social and applied psychology of music.

"Many elite athletes listen to genres such as rock and rap as a motivator, using the beats per minute, high tempo and lyrics within a song, for example 'Nice For What' by Drake to block out unwanted distractions and get psyched up.

"It's also proven that music is fantastic for recovery after exercise, leading to a relaxed frame of mind and lowered arousal levels."

Tickets are still available and fans are urged to secure their seats at www.nrl.com/grandfinal.

Fans can also stream the official playlists of the NRL Grand Finals teams for free at Spotify from midnight Thursday night.
