Tapine re-signs with Raiders until end of 2023
The Canberra Raiders have re-signed international forward Joe Tapine for a further four seasons, keeping him in Canberra until the end of the 2023 season.
Tapine, 24, was already on contract with the club until the end of the 2019 season, however his extension was seen as a priority for the club as they secure their roster for the future.
The New Zealand international had a breakout season for the Raiders in 2018 and despite playing just 16 matches, he finished in the top three votes polled for the 2018 Meninga Medal.
Tapine said he's looking forward to continuing his career progression with the Raiders and that he'd found a home in Canberra.
"Moving to the Raiders has been the best decision for my footy and I know by extending my time here in Canberra I can continue to become a better player," Tapine said.
"I'm confident in the group of players and coaches we have that we can keep improving and be a better and more consistent team."
"My partner and I have also made a home in Canberra and we love living here."
Raiders Recruitment and High-Performance Director Peter Mulholland said Tapine's re-signing had been a priority for the club and they were thrilled to have him remain in Canberra for a further four seasons.
"Although Joe was already on contract until the end of the 2019 season we identified him as a priority re-signing and we're delighted to be able to extend his contract with the club," Mulholland said.
"Joe has the ability and skill set to be one of the games best young forwards and we see him as a huge part of our future."
