Funding boost for drought relief partners

The Queensland Rugby League and ISC Sport have combined to raise more than $4000 for Australian farmers.

QRL Managing Director Robert Moore today confirmed the funds would be distributed to its drought relief partners – Rural Aid and Drought Angels.

"We're extremely proud of the initiative which once again reinforces the standing of the game in our communities and rugby league's unique ability to make a difference to so many," Moore said.

"Special thanks must go to ISC for their investment and willingness to get behind such a meaningful project."

The fundraising campaign was run in conjunction with the QRL's Drought Relief Goodwill Tour of Central Queensland last month.

With support from the Former Origins Greats and Men of League organisation, ex-Maroons Chris Walker, David Shillington and Michael Crocker joined Sharks star Kurt Capewell for a tour of the CQ region.

They spent time in Longreach, Blackall, Charleville, St George and Roma, stopping in at local schools and watering-holes, thanks to the generosity of XXXX.

While the touring group was busy lifting the spirits of locals, a variety of Queensland jerseys from ISC's extensive range were snapped up on maroonsshop.com.

Eighty-two jerseys were sold in total, with $50 from each purchase committed to drought relief partners.
