Knights centre Tautau Moga.

Newcastle Knights centre Tautau Moga has been charged with assault following an altercation on Boxing Day.

The Knights released a statement on Friday which didn't identify Moga, instead saying they "were made aware of an incident involving a player on December 26, 2018."

The statement went on to say: "The Club alerted the NRL Integrity Unit at an appropriate time and are co-operating with the NSW Police."

After making his NRL debut in 2012 for the Roosters, Moga has played 63 matches during an injury-plagued career.
