NRL Club CEOs met today in Melbourne to discuss a range of issues, including player behaviour.

NRL CEO Todd Greenberg said the CEOs were united in their commitment to take decisive action to protect the image and reputation of the sport.

“There is no doubt that we have to change as a game in terms of behaviour,” Mr Greenberg said. “All of the CEOs were unified behind that view.

“Some of the issues are difficult and complex. But it is clear that the standard of behaviour from a small number of players falls well short of the game’s expectations.”

The CEOs were shown figures that highlighted how off-field behaviour had improved materially since 2014.

“But positive trends over the past five years have been overshadowed by events in the recent off season,” Mr Greenberg said.

Warriors CEO Cameron George said: “There was a universal view that we need to protect the integrity of the sport and the future of the sport. And we’re intent on doing that.”

Initiatives discussed with Clubs at today’s meeting will be considered further by the NRL and the ARL Commission.
