Parramatta five-eighth Jaeman Salmon has been stood down for the opening round of the season and fined over his drink-driving charge last year.

The club released a statement on Sunday morning to say Salmon would not be available for selection in the season opener against Penrith on March 17 and would be fined $10,000 after consultation with the NRL Integrity Unit.

He was found guilty of a low-range drink-driving charge after crashing his car in Miranda in October.

According to the Eels statement: "Jaeman has demonstrated genuine remorse and has supported this by completing a safe driving course and is currently undertaking welfare and education programs stipulated by the club.

"The club views drink driving as an extremely serious offence and is working closely with Jaeman to ensure a clear understanding of his personal responsibilities."
