When a Test and Origin great and the best five-eighth in Raiders history offers advice on playing the position, Jack Wighton might want to listen.
Speaking to NRL.com at the Raiders' season launch on Friday night, Raiders legend Laurie Daley said he liked the overall look of the side for 2019 but had some words of wisdom for the former fullback.
"Patience. Patience with the ball and not be too eager to rush his plays or get things done," Daley said of the biggest thing Wighton will need to learn.
"He has to learn how to take some breaths and watch the flow of the game and get the ball when he needs it and he sees an opportunity. Not just getting the ball for the sake of getting it."
Wighton showed flashes of what he is capable of during Canberra's win over the Canterbury Bulldogs during their recent trial in Bega.
"A lot of players who have played six have transferred between a lot of other positons be it centre or fullback so it's not unheard of," Daley said of Wighton's move from fullback into the front line.

"Look, he's a wonderful player but it will be him having to get to the up-and-back in defence and once he gets used to that he'll be fine."
Daley was one of 14 past greats inducted into Canberra's Hall of Fame during their season launch.
The Junee-born Daley regaled the crowd of his unexpected first training session with the Raiders as a wide-eyed teenager, where he was forced to take to the field in a pair of tennis shoes rather than football boots.
With scenes of the Canberra's 1989 grand final win playing in the background, the 2019 group spoke about making their own memories in the 30th anniversary year of the triumph.
Daley thinks they are closer to achieving that than many people think.
"I like the look of their squad, but it's a tough competition and that's what people fail to understand," he said.
"Every team starts out every year with a good squad and they've trained hard but everything being equal I think they will make the finals."
The former NSW Blues coach said the Raiders' slimmed-down forward pack would ensure the team doesn't run out of steam late in games.
"I like the fact they have gone for a more mobile pack as the game has changed and Ricky [Stuart] identified that," Daley said.
