The Sydney Roosters sign a landmark agreement with the SCG Trust.

The Sydney Cricket and Sports Grounds and Sydney Roosters have signed a landmark partnership that will see the reigning NRL premiers play home games and finals at the Allianz Sydney Football Stadium for at least the next 25 years when it opens in 2022.

It is the longest hiring agreement between a stadium and club in rugby league history.

The Roosters’ NRL and NRLW teams will be integral to the SCG precinct’s next chapter.

The NSW Government’s redevelopment is under way. The new venue will deliver a world-class sporting experience for fans, teams and players in Australia’s premier city.

Sydney Roosters Chairman Nick Politis AM spoke on the landmark agreement.

“These grounds have always been our spiritual home and the binding agreement we’ve signed with the SCG means this will always be our home.

“We played our first matches here at the old Show Ground, moved to the Sports Ground and then Allianz Stadium.

“We’ve had some of our most famous moments on the SCG, including the 1974-75 premierships that marked the start of my involvement with the Roosters.

“Our whole club is excited about what the new stadium will deliver for our members, supporters and players and for rugby league across the board.

"It cannot happen soon enough.”

CEO Joe Kelly was also pleased to discuss the 25-year deal.

“This is a significant announcement for our great club. We believe signing up long-term to what will be a world-class sporting venue is in the best interests of our members and supporters.

“We have been assured that the public facilities will provide a spectator experience unlike Sydney has ever seen.

“We look forward to keeping our members and supporters updated throughout the redevelopment."
