April 3: Fitzy defies pain of broken jaw; Good Friday mayhem

1991

NSWRL general manager John Quayle reveals star-studded Canberra were in breach of their salary cap when they won the 1990 premiership with an 18-14 defeat of Penrith in the grand final.

Future Bronco and Kiwis international Kodi Nikorima is born is Palmerston North, New Zealand. The New Zealand Test player has enjoyed a strong NRL career.

2000

Goal-kicking Roosters backrower and renowned big game player Craig Fitzgibbon defies the pain of a suspected broken jaw to kick his team to a last-minute 20-18 victory over the Knights.

2015

The Good Friday grand final rematch between Canterbury and South Sydney erupts into mayhem when referee Gerard Sutton awards the Rabbitohs a controversial penalty in the dying minutes.

2016

Ex-Rooster Roger Tuivasa-Sheck lands the knockout blow on his former club by scoring a golden point try in the Warriors’ 32-28 victory at Central Coast Stadium.   

2020

NSW coach Brad Fittler supports calls for a three-game State of Origin series to restart the 2020 season and even suggests players such as Jason Taumalolo and Siosiua Taukeiaho should be considered for selection to add public appeal.
