1928

Australia adopt colours of green and gold for the first time in a Test match. Captained by Queensland centre Tom Gorman, the Australians are beaten 15-12 by Jonathan Parkin’s touring English side.

1991

Future NSW and Australian hooker Damien Cook is born at Sutherland, NSW. Cook becomes a two-sport star in his formative years, excelling at rugby league and beach flags/beach sprinting before pursuing rugby league as a career. After a season with the Dragons and two years with the Bulldogs, Cook joins the Rabbitohs in 2016 and soon becomes one of the game's best players.

1999

The State of Origin series ends in a stalemate when New South Wales and Queensland play out the first draw (10-all) in the history of Origin football. As title holders, Queensland retain the Origin shield.

2003

North Queensland officials protest to the NRL over a Parramatta conversion they claim was awarded incorrectly at Parramatta Stadium. Video replays showed the kick by rookie halfback Michael Witt almost certainly sailed wide of the posts. Referee Rod Lawrence awarded the goal after the touch judges offered a split decision.

2006

A last-minute try to centre Jake Webster hands Melbourne a 16-12 win over the Bulldogs at Olympic Park. It is the Storm’s 12th consecutive win on home soil.

2020

The Melbourne Storm is forced to vacate Victoria as the number of COVID-19 cases continues to rise and after setting up a temporary base in Sydney the club applies to the Queensland government for a possible lengthier relocation to the Sunshine Coast.
