1952
Australia suffered their heaviest Test match defeat with a 49-25 thumping at the hands of New Zealand at the Brisbane Cricket Ground. Kiwis fullback Des White kicked a world record 11 goals in the win.
1970
North Sydney Bears star Matt Seers was born. A four-time NSW Origin player, Seers was a speedy fullback and a great last line of defence and played for Norths between 1993 and 1999. He then spent three seasons at the Wests Tigers before finishing his career at Wakefield Trinity in 2003.
1989
Two-time Dally M Prop of the Year Andrew Fifita was born. Fifita spent two seasons at the Tigers in 2010 and 2011 before switching to Cronulla, where he became one of the game's star big men and played alongside twin brother David for three seasons. Fifita played 10 Origin games for the Blues and seven Tests for Australia before switching national allegiance to Tonga in 2017. His match-winning try in the Sharks' drought-breaking 2016 premiership was one of the best seen in a grand final.
1989
Queensland completed their second consecutive clean sweep over New South Wales with a 36-16 hiding at Lang Park. Hooker Kerrod Walters took out the man of the match award.
1991
The first ever Winfield Cup match in Adelaide, played between St George and Balmain, drew a Friday night crowd of more than 28,000.
2008
South Sydney produced the greatest comeback victory in the club’s history to down North Queensland 29-28 after trailing 28-4 with half an hour remaining in Townsville.
2015
Penrith winger David Simmons crossed for four tries as Penrith beat Wests Tigers 35-12 to take his career try tally beyond 100.
