On this day, Belinda Sharpe makes history, Wendell Sailor scores a 95m try on his birthday and Steve Roach pats ref on the head.

1960

Two weeks after suffering a 56-6 loss in the second Test, France stun Australia with a 7-5 win in the third Test at the SCG.

Australia included the likes of Norm Provan, John Raper, Keith Barnes, Ken Irvine and Reg Gasnier in their side.

1990

In a moment he'll long be remembered for, Balmain prop Steve Roach is suspended for four matches and fined $5000 after being cited for "patting" referee Eddie Ward on the head and abusing touch judge Lance Harrigan during a match.   

2000

On his 26th birthday, Broncos winger Wendell Sailor scores a 95-metre try against St George Illawarra at WIN Stadium. Brisbane win the match 44-14 with Michael De Vere bagging a double.

2012

South Sydney stage an incredible fightback to score two tries in the final two minutes to score a 24-22 win over the Sydney Roosters 24-22 at Allianz Stadium.

The win delivered some form of revenge for South Sydney after the Roosters won in similar circumstances in round one.

2019

Referee Belinda Sharpe makes history when she becomes the first female appointed to control an NRL fixture. Sharpe is appointed second referee for the Broncos-Bulldogs clash at Suncorp Stadium. "She couldn't have performed any better," said NRL head of football Graham Annesley after the match.

2020

Sydney Roosters fullback James Tedesco knocks Cameron Smith off his perch as the No.1 player in the game according to the NRL’s 2020 Players’ Poll.
