The NRL Integrity Unit is expected to meet with Parramatta on Tuesday after photos of Shaun Lane holding a plastic bag with a white substance emerged on Monday.

The Integrity Unit have launched an investigation after both the NRL and Parramatta Eels were made aware of the images of Lane by The Daily Telegraph on Monday.

The photo is believed to have been taken during Manly's Mad Monday celebrations last year, prior to Lane joining the Eels.

It's understood both the club and governing body had not previously seen the images before Monday.

There is no suggestion any illegal substance was consumed, or if it was in fact an illegal substance in Lane's possession.

"The integrity unit has been asked to investigate photographs which allegedly feature a Parramatta Eels player," an NRL spokesman said.

"The Parramatta club is cooperating with the integrity unit."

Lane will meet with Eels will on Tuesday.

“We will be making no further comment until the investigation has been completed,” an Eels spokesperson said.

Manly have not yet made an official comment on the matter.
