Penrith star Greg Alexander confirms he has signed with the fledgling Auckland Warriors for 1995.

The premiership-winning captain from the Panthers' 1991 grand final triumph was hailed as a marquee signing for the new franchise.

Andrew Johns is rated the best player in the game in Rugby League Week's annual players' poll.

2002

The Bulldogs face elimination from the finals series if allegations of their salary cap excesses are proven, according to The Sun-Herald. NRL boss David Gallop describes the allegations as ‘very serious’ and says he is ‘extremely alarmed’ by them.

2005

The NRL announces the Team of the 1970s at a function at the Sydney Opera House. The team announced was: Graeme Langlands; Kerry Boustead, Mick Cronin, Steve Rogers, Terry Fahey; Bob Fulton, Tom Raudonikis; Malcolm Reilly, Bob McCarthy, Ron Coote, Arthur Beetson, Max Krilich and John O’Neill.

2009

St George Illawarra fullback Darius Boyd offers one-word answers to a series of questions put to him by reporters at a media session in Wollongong. Even his coach Wayne Bennett reprimands Boyd over his performance.

2012

Sydney Roosters fullback Anthony Minichiello is sent from the field for the first time in his 249-game career after using a forearm to the head of Canberra opposite Josh Dugan in his team’s 24-20 defeat at Canberra Stadium.
