Mystery surrounds whether Robbie Farah will be fit for Sunday's must-win clash with Cronulla after Wests Tigers coach Michael Maguire said he'd made a final decision but would not reveal it until an hour before kick-off.

Maguire was coy on Friday morning when asked about Farah's attempt to make an early comeback from a broken leg for what could be the final match of the retirement-bound club legend's career at Leichhardt Oval.

In shades of Cooper Cronk saying information about his injury in grand final week last year was on a "needs to know" basis, he said nobody needs to know about Farah's injury status despite repeated questions from the reporters.

If the Tigers win, they make the finals but if the Sharks come away with the points they will snatch the last spot in the playoff equation.

"I know what it takes at this time of year, you need 17 fit men on the park and the decision that I make around that are going to head towards that," Maguire told reporters at Concord Oval.

"He and I, it’s all about the team. It’s a do or die, it’s a must-win game. So I’ve got to pick the squad that I believe is going to go out there and get the job done.

"I’ve got a really fit squad at the moment, so I’ve got to take that into account with where we’re going.

"I’ve got 17 men who have been playing over the past couple of weeks, who have been performing so I’ve got to make sure that I look at that. I’m very confident in that crew as well, the way they’ve been playing and the fitness of that group."

It is understood Moses Mbye (hip injury) is out but Maguire said he has not officially been omitted from the squad.
