Round 25 charges: Young cops eight; JWH cleared; Evans banned

Raiders forward Hudson Young has received an eight-match ban for eye-gouging, his second suspension for the same offence this season.

Young unsuccessfully challenged a ban at the judiciary on Tuesday night, with the 21-year-old already having served a five-game suspension over a similar incident on Canterbury's Aiden Tolman earlier in the year.

Young pleaded not guilty, meaning he was not eligible for a 25% discount on his ban.

Roosters prop Jared Waerea-Hargreaves has been cleared by the judiciary of a high tackle charge from the incident that left Rabbitohs prop Liam Knight bloody and dazed late in Souths' 16-10 defeat of the premiers.

He is free to take on the Rabbitohs once again in the opening week of the finals series.

Parramatta prop Kane Evans has been suspended for Sunday's sudden death clash with Brisbane after failing to have a careless high tackle downgraded.

Sea Eagles prop Martin Taupau has copped the one-match ban for his high tackle on Eels forward Ray Stone, ruling him out of Manly's elimination final against Cronulla.

The Sharks will also be without a key player with young winger Ronaldo Mulitalo submitting an early guilty plea for a grade-one shoulder charge offence from a 17th-minute tackle on Wests Tigers halfback Luke Brooks during Cronulla's win at Leichhardt Oval on Sunday.

Mulitalo could have been out for two matches if he unsuccessfully challenged the charge at the judiciary.

Knights prop David Klemmer was fined over a contrary conduct charge after he was found to have abused an NRL match official during Newcastle's heavy loss at Penrith on Sunday.

Klemmer was handed a grade-one offence for the 75th-minute incident, which incured a $1150 fine after he submitted an early guilty plea.

Rabbitohs captain Sam Burgess meanwhile will watch South Sydney's first finals outing from the stands.

Burgess has accepted the early guilty plea to a grade-one contrary conduct charge and the resulting one-game ban, levelled at the Englishman for pulling the hair of Roosters rookie Billy Smith on Thursday night.

Evans was facing a game out whether he went to the judiciary or not so won't miss any extra game time with his unsuccessful bid for a downgrade.

Cowboys prop Josh McGuire's poor disciplinary record continues as well as he was charged with tripping Melbourne's Cameron Smith at AAMI Park.

The Storm loss was McGuire's first game back from a three-week suspension for contrary conduct, and he has accepted a one-game ban.

Warriors forward Agnatius Paasi has also been hit with a grade one dangerous contact charge but has avoided a suspension with an early plea.
