Finals and NRLW charges: Fotu-Moala cops three-game ban; JWH suspended

St George Illawarra forward Teuila Fotu-Moala has been rubbed out for the remainder of the NRLW season after unsuccessfully seeking a downgrade for a crusher tackle on Tuesday night.

Fotu-Moala became the first player in NRLW history to be charged by the match review committee after attracting a grade two charge for a tackle on Broncos hooker Lavinia Gould in Sunday’s loss at Bankwest Stadium.

She pleaded guilty to the charge but sought a downgrade. Her bid failed and Fotu-Moala was suspended for three games.

Sydney Roosters enforcer Jared Waerea-Hargreaves will miss his team's crucial preliminary final clash against either Melbourne or Parramatta after being found guilty of tripping at the NRL judiciary on Tuesday night.

Waerea-Hargreaves, who attended his fourth visit to NRL HQ to fight his sixth charge of the season, was found guilty of tripping Rabbitohs centre James Roberts.

The charge usually carries the punishment of a fine but his poor disciplinary record and 30 carry-over points meant he was suspended for one match.

Broncos forward Joe Ofahengaue has been suspended for one game and fined after entering early guilty pleas to separate charges.

Ofahengaue was charged with grade-one dangerous contact for a 14th-minute incident involving Mitchell Moses as well as a 69th-minute grade-one careless high tackle on Blake Ferguson in Brisbane's 58-0 elimination final loss to Parramatta on Sunday.

He has been banned for a game for the dangerous contact charge and fined $1300 for the high tackle.

Raiders forward Joseph Tapine is free to play in Canberra's preliminary final match after entering an early guilty plea to a dangerous contact charge.

The early plea resulted in 90 demerit points going against Tapine's name - 10 fewer than were required to incur a one-week suspension.

He will have 90 carry-over points against his name if he is charged in the future.
