Wade Graham will use his selection in the Prime Minister's XIII team that will play Fiji on Friday to push for an international recall with the Kangaroos.
The Sharks captain was included in a 19-man squad for the upcoming Test matches against New Zealand and Tonga after returning from a nine-month layoff with an ACL injury in June.
He joined fellow 'Roos squad members Tyson Frizell, Payne Haas, Ben Hunt and Jake Trbojevic in camp for the Prime Ministers XIII clash in Brisbane on Monday.
The 28-year-old last played for the Kangaroos at the World Cup in 2017 and will captain the PM's XIII side.
"It was a strange season missing the first half of it and then coming back and playing Origin which was another high, then getting hurt again and missing a few more games," Graham said.
"We didn't finish the season the way we wanted to at the Sharks but I can't complain, I get my opportunity with the Prime Minister's team and some footy down the track. I'm proud to be part of it again.
"To see the team we got picked here there's certainly a few older heads but a few guys coming through who are at the beginning of their careers."
Graham's biggest competition for a spot in the Kangaroos back row is Sydney Roosters, NSW and Australian leader Boyd Cordner.
That's why he's prepared to provide impact off the bench in a similar way to his efforts in Origin earlier in the year.
"There's a pretty handy player who plays left edge back row for Australia," Graham said, referring to Cordner.
"I'm pretty sure he'll be a lock in that jersey. I'll see how the next couple of weeks progress and have a chat to Mal and see what he's thinking.
"Last time I was involved in the 2017 World Cup I was coming off the bench as the fourth forward or in the utility role.
"I'm proud of the fact I have been able to force my way into teams another way. If I didn't have that versatility or ability to play another position I might miss out on the rep scene."
The PM's XIII trained on Monday afternoon. They will travel to Suva on Tuesday morning.
South Sydney winger Campbell Graham was called into the squad for Blake Ferguson, who withdrew through injury.
