Australia redeem themselves for their first Test loss by thumping Great Britain 38-8 in the second Test at Old Trafford. Brett Mullins scores two tries and Rod Wishart kicks seven goals for Australia.
1995
Ricky Stuart offers to "put his house" on a contest between the best of Super League and ARL teams, and calls on ARL chairman Ken Arthurson to "put up or shut up".
1996
Great Britain captain Andy Farrell laments the state of international league and predicts the departure of more top players to rugby union. The comments followed the Lions' 3-0 series loss in New Zealand.
2005
It is reported that businessman Peter Holmes a Court has prepared a $7.5 million proposal to unite South Sydney Juniors and the senior football club. Holmes a Court and actor Russell Crowe plan to be the major financial backers.
2010
The signing of Greg Inglis by South Sydney becomes a stronger possibility after talk of a stand-off over the payment of legal fees between his old club Melbourne and new outfit Brisbane hurts his chances of moving north.
2018
English great Garry Schofield claims Mal Meninga and the Kangaroos are "running scared" by rejecting plans to play a three-Test series. "Dally Messenger will be turning in his grave," Schofield wrote in his League Express column. "We can't let them off the hook with this. They don't own the game. So come on Australia. Come on Mal. Let's get it on."
2019
The Sydney Roosters withdraw an offer of a contract extension for star centre Latrell Mitchell after he tells the club he wants to explore other options. Mitchell would go on to sign with the South Sydney Rabbitohs ahead of the 2020 season.
