Brisbane Broncos back-rower David Fifita.

Broncos star David Fifita appears closer to a release from his Bali jail cell after the bouncer at the centre of the incident involving the Queensland representative has reportedly accepted his apology.

The nightclub employee, Dani Irawan has told that Fifita had told him that he was sorry for striking him in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Fifita was arrested in the early hours of Saturday morning. It is alleged Fifita was involved in an altercation at La Favela in Seminyak, the same club where Storm prop Nelson Asofa-Solomona was involved in an altercation last month that resulted in a three-match ban.

Broncos welfare officer Adam Walsh flew to Bali on Saturday to help Fifita resolve his legal issue.

The club issued a statement on Sunday to say: "David is respectful of Indonesian law and is cooperating with local authorities.

"The club is working with representatives in Bali to provide David all the supporting he needs.

"The club will provide more updates as information becomes available."

An NRL spokesman said the NRL integrity unit was "aware of an alleged incident involving David Fifita in Bali. The integrity unit are working with the Brisbane Broncos and authorities to determine what has happened."

Fifita played all three State of Origin matches for Queensland this season and was named captain of the Junior Kangaroos. He was denied a potential call-up to the Australian Test side after suffering a fractured eye socket against France two weeks ago.

The 19-year-old second-rower comes off contract at the end of the 2020 season and is one of the most highly sought-after players on the market for 2021.
