On this day, 24-Test veteran Roy Asotasi was born and NRL stars help out following 2004 tsunami.

1982

New Zealand, Canterbury and South Sydney prop Roy Asotasi was born. As well as playing 24 Tests for New Zealand and one for Samoa, Asotasi played 84 matches for Canterbury and 133 for the Rabbitohs.                           

1995

Canterbury's grand final hooker Jason Hetherington signs a new three-year deal with the Bulldogs. In total, Hetherington played 133 matches for the Gold Coast and Canterbury, two Tests for Australia and eight games for Queensland.

1997

Jason Taylor retains his role as North Sydney captain. Taylor would finish his career as the leading point scorer in the game. His career total of 2107 points has since been passed by Andrew Johns, Johnathan Thurston, Hazem El Masri and Cameron Smith.

2005

Leading NRL players including Andrew Johns, Darren Lockyer, Danny Buderus and Willie Mason lend their support to victims of the tsunami which struck south-east Asia on December 26, 2004.

2010

Former Bulldogs winger Matt Utai agrees to captain-coach the Young Cherrypickers in the NSW Group 9 competition.
