1998   

After a protracted dispute, classy forward Glenn Morrison buys out his Balmain contract to enable him to play with North Sydney in 1998.

2003   

Anthony Minichiello is named at fullback in the Roosters’ squad for the World Club Challenge clash with St Helens. Grand final fullback Luke Phillips is expected to miss much of the season after shoulder surgery.

2006   

Penrith name Tony Puletua as captain for 2006, replacing Craig Gower, who was stood down for disciplinary reasons.

2011   

Queensland’s most iconic sporting venue Suncorp Stadium is inundated as floodwaters devastate low-lying areas of Brisbane. Dressing rooms are deluged and offices threatened but at least one local retains their sense of humour by adorning the statue of Wally Lewis with goggles, a snorkel and flippers.

2017   

Warriors prop Ben Matulino is forced to undergo knee surgery following a training accident in December and will miss the start of the 2017 season.

2020

Kiwi international Te Maire Martin announces his immediate retirement after doctors are unable to clear him to resume playing. After debuting in 2016 with the Panthers, Martin moved to North Queensland in 2017 and played 42 games across three seasons.
