Ryan Sutton will miss the opening round of the season after he accepted his charge from the NRL match review committee.

The Canberra forward was charged with a grade-one shoulder charge offence on Monday and faced a two-match ban if he unsuccessfully challenged the charge at the judiciary.

Sutton will now miss one game, the opening round of the season, for the tackle on Canterbury forward Joe Stimson in the 79th minute of Saturday's trial win at Port Macquarie.

"I’ve not had a charge in seven years of playing professional rugby," the English forward said.

"I didn’t go looking for it, it was just something I got my body in the wrong position and my arm was tucked and I have got to take it on the chin.

"I’ve let myself down, but I have let my teammates down as well because we are a bit scattered for numbers.

"I looked at the footage and there’s not enough evidence to prove I tried to get my arm up. I just have to take it on the chin and making sure I live and learn from it."

Meanwhile, Sharks five-eighth Connor Tracey has taken an early guilty plea to a grade one dangerous throw charge but will avoid suspension. He will, however, have 75 carry-over points against his name.
