Brisbane Broncos Captain Alex Glenn says he is on a daily mission to overcome injury as he takes advantage of the unexpected halt to the NRL season.

Hamstring and calf problems kept the backrower out of the Broncos’ opening two wins over the Cowboys and Rabbitohs – something which has added extra motivation for the skipper to be ready if and when the season returns.

“I’ve been doing my own training – coming back from injuries, I’ve been taking things a little bit slower than everyone else,” said Glenn. “But I’ve been making sure I do runs every day, building up strength.

“Our rehab boys have been giving me some programs to make sure that I’m not losing my muscle mass in my calves and my hamstrings, which have been giving me problems and limited me from playing Rounds 1 and 2.

“I’ve been upper body strength, push-ups, core work, ad work, and squats, lunges, plus all my runs.

“I’m just making sure that on the daily I’m doing something because when the footy starts back – and we don’t know when it is – I want to make sure that I’m not taking one or two weeks to get fit again.”

Glenn said he had been appreciating the extra time with his family, as well as keeping in touch with teammates online.

“A lot of us have been keeping in contact on Call Of Duty to be honest – we’ve ben gaming online,” he said. “I started up a Twitch account so I could stream online and I’ve had a few fans get in touch.

“It’s been pretty cool, another avenue I’m not used to – I’ve always loved my gaming but never been into streaming.  With all this time on our hands I thought I’d give the fans something else to follow me on and watch how we game.”
