With the Melbourne Storm well in control of their preliminary final against Canberra, Cameron Smith could have been forgiven for not chasing back with his usual gusto as Nick Cotric seemed set to score a consolation try for the Raiders.

But that's not how the ageless Storm skipper rolls. He tracked back hard and was on hand to wrap Cotric up ball-and-all and prevent him from getting the ball down.

Smith's trysaver has been voted the Youi Tackle of the Finals, collecting 43 per cent of the vote, well clear of Canberra fullback Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad's effort to deny JOsh Morris at the SCG, which received 24 per cent.

The candidates were:

  • A - Justin Olam v Eels
  • B - Isaac Liu v Raiders
  • C - Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad v Roosters
  • D - Siliva Havili and Sia Soliola v Storm
  • E - Cameron Smith v Raiders
  • F - Alex Johnston v Panthers
