The Broncos were invited to visit Childhood Cancer Support’s Herston facility last week, where they helped with some maintenance work and had the opportunity to spend quality time with the children and their families.

Childhood Cancer Support has a mission of providing stability and support to children undergoing cancer treatment through the provision of specialised accommodation, emotional and financial support, transportation and recreational therapies.

After the working bee, where the team painted a twenty-metre fence, the families housed in the facility joined the team for a barbeque lunch, followed by some family-friendly games and one-on-one time with the players.

Albert Kelly enjoyed playing with two-year-old Liam who had just arrived at Childhood Cancer Support.

“We have all been really inspired by the young faces we saw today,” he said.

Childhood Cancer Support was founded in 1975 and has grown into a six-house facility, enabling families to take a much-needed break from hospital life.

Brodie Croft raved about the charity and their commitment to bettering the lives of children impacted by cancer and leukemia.

“It’s such important work that they’re doing, it really is admirable,” he said.

Broncos Captain Jake Turpin generously gifted resident, Adam, the polo he was wearing on the day. Adam described it as “the best day ever”.
