It was slim pickings for Fantasy coaches in the tougher of the two major bye rounds with only a small handful of Fantasy-relevant players putting in useful scores in round 17.

Winners

Raiders halfback Sam Williams bagged two tries against Manly to top the round with 76.

While his spot in first grade looks assured for the rest of the year and he will make some fast cash in the short term, he hasn't been a Fantasy factor before and it's getting a bit late for cash cows.

Jason Taumalolo was the best of the likely captaincy options with 68 including a line break to set up a try and looks to have got his mojo back.

Bulldogs skipper Josh Jackson (66) gave his absolute all in a tight loss to the Roosters, Souths wingers Alex Johnston (69) and Taane Milne (64) each bagged hat-tricks in the rout over the Cowboys, Josh Hodgson scored well in his dual hooker/lock role and Joey Manu (63) scored heavily at fullback, as he tends to do.

Reece Walsh (53), Shaun Johnson (51) and Corey Harawira-Naera (48) each scored OK as three of the likely captaincy options for the week.

Cheapie Aaron Schoupp (39) had a handy bye-round score for those that jumped on.

Losers

Jake Averillo's scores have tapered right off lately with just 33 against the Roosters, including losing plenty of kick metres to Lachlan Lewis.

Sam Verrills (28) is getting plenty of minutes as the Roosters' starting hooker but isn't scoring any points at all outside of making tackles and registered 12 demerits so his 40 tackles earned just 28 points.

Xavier Savage (26) was a possible late-season cash-out and started brightly with some impressive kick defusals and returns while Manly had the upper hand but wasn't as involved once the Raiders got a roll on.

Jason Saab (7) made his owners plenty of cash in a hot streak of try-scoring recently but really struggles to get involved when the tries aren't flowing.
