Maroons winger Xavier Coates is still trailing Josh Addo-Carr at club level but has knocked off the Blues flyer as the fastest current State of Origin player.

Coates, who played in all three games for Queensland, recorded the top speed of the series with a 35.6km/h in Origin II.

Addo-Carr was dubbed "the fastest man of the planet" by Phil Gould in last year's series, in which he cranked up to 37km/h, but he could only manage a maximum velocity of 34.9km/h in 2021.

The Melbourne champion finished level with Tom Trbojevic (34.9km/h) and Queensland back Valentine Holmes (34.1km/h).

Blues heroes Latrell Mitchell (33.5km/h), Jack Wighton (33.5km/h) and Brian To'o (33.3km/h) also revved up in their 2-1 series win.

However, Addo-Carr remains the king of clubland having been clocked at 38.1km/h for the Storm this year. Coates's maximum velocity for the Broncos so far in 2021 is 37.6km/h (third overall).

Elsewhere, Maroons centre/back-rower Kurt Capewell averaged the most high-speed distance per game with 688m.

That placed the Panthers star ahead of teammate Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow (660m - though he only played in game three), Coates (610m), centre Dane Gagai (538m) and man of the series Trbojevic (528m).

But when it came to overall distance covered, NSW halves Nathan Cleary and Jarome Luai - who both didn't feature in Origin III due to injury - respectively averaged 7.8km and 7.5km per game.

The Panthers duo pipped Queensland five-eighth Cameron Munster (7.4km), halfback Daly Cherry-Evans (7.2km) and Blues playmaker Mitchell Moses (7.1km), who replaced Cleary in the finale.
