John Raper to be remembered with NSW State Funeral

A New South Wales state funeral for Australian Rugby League Immortal Mr John William Raper MBE will be held on Monday, 28 February at the Sydney Cricket Ground, Moore Park at 10:30am AEDT.

Raper passed earlier this month, aged 82.

Raper represented the Kangaroos in 39 Tests, including as Captain of the 1968 World Cup winning side, won 8 Premierships with the St George Dragons and twice won NSWRL player of the year.

Gates at the SCG will open at 9:45am and guests will need to be seated by 10.15am sharp (Entry via Gate A on Driver Avenue).

General public is welcome to attend and will be accommodated in the Member’s Stand seats inside the grounds of the SCG. People can also watch the service via live stream. The Service will be approximately 90 minutes.

Arrangements for the Service are subject to weather conditions and may be adjusted. Security screening will be in place.

Attendees at the State Funeral will be required to follow appropriate COVID-19 safe measures.
