Rabbitohs skipper Cameron Murray has shot to the top of the VB Hard Earned Index ladder after a tireless display in his side's one-point defeat to the Wests Tigers on Saturday night.

Murray, who made an incredible 61 tackles along with 11 runs in the game, finished with a 90-point score to sit fourth among all players in Round 7 — enough to put him eight points clear on top of the leaderboard from Panthers lock Isaah Yeo.

It was Payne Haas who topped the charts in Round 7, powering through a shoulder injury in his first game back from suspension with his 102 points bolstered by 18 runs of eight-plus metres, along with 31 tackles and zero errors.

Rabbitohs edge forward Keaon Koloamatangi and Bulldogs captain Josh Jackson finished in the top three players of the round for the first time this season, chalking up 95 and 90 points respectively in their side's Round 7 defeats.

Roosters skipper James Tedesco's tireless display in the Tricolours' ANZAC Day defeat to the Dragons saw him round out the top five, 17 runs of eight-plus metres along with 11 tackle busts seeing him earn 87 points from the round.

No other player inside the top 20 had more tackle busts than Tedesco while only Panthers fullback Dylan Edwards had more runs, with the Penrith number one carrying the ball 24 times in his side's win over Canberra.

Edwards now sits seventh on the overall leaderboard this season — the highest of any non-forward in the competition — but his 463 points is significantly behind that of Murray (581 points) and Yeo (573 points), while Parramatta forward Isaiah Papali'i (558 points) sits ahead of Haas (534 points) following his one-game suspension.
