Vale Dr Allan Hawke AC

Australian Rugby League Commission (ARLC) Chairman Peter V’landys AM today paid tribute to Canberra Raiders Club Chairman Dr Allan Hawke AC, who has passed away.

“Allan was a masterful strategist who has been on the Raiders board of directors since 2002 and Chairman of the club since 2014,” Mr V’landys said.

“I can’t think of a more brilliant thinker in club administration. Allan was also a distinguished public servant and diplomat throughout a decorated career. However more importantly Allan was a beautiful human being, always genuine, trustworthy and just super nice and kind.

“My thoughts are with his wife Maria, daughter Stephanie and his brother Phil.

“The game of rugby league owes a huge debt to Dr Allan Hawke AC.”

NRL CEO Andrew Abdo said, “We are deeply saddened by this loss.  Allan was a loyal and long serving leader for the Raiders and for Rugby League. I extend our deepest condolences to his family.”
